MSU Muck Farm Open Day on September 1

The annual late blight open day at the MSU Muck Farm, Laingsburg, MI is scheduled for 10 - 1 pm on Thursday, September 1. Fungicide plots include extensive trials with Ranman, the new fungicide from FMC and ISK. The variety trials include varieties from ten breeding programs. There will also be ample opportunity to discuss late blight and other potato issues. Lunch is from 12 - 1 pm and will be sponsored by FMC (the registrants of Ranman). MSU power cut disrupts disease monitoring site

The campus wide power cut at MSU on Tuesday (16 Aug) afternoon disrupted the computer systems which collect weather data from the MAWN weather stations. As a result, there has been no data available to generate DSV since that time, and hence the missing values on the Sations Comparison page.

New Rhizoctonia webpage now online

The new webpage on Rhizoctonia stem canker and black scurf of potato is now online. The webpage covers the symptoms of the disease, disease cycle and current control options available in Michigan. A printed version of the webpage will be available from the MSU Extension Bulletin Office later in the Fall, and when that is published a .pdf version will be made available online. To receive a .pdf version before then contact webmaster@potatodiseases.org and I will send you one via e-mail.

Posters available for download

Posters that we presented this year at the European Association for Potato Research conference in Bilbao, Spain, the Potato Association of America conference in Calgary, Canada, and the American Phytopathological Society Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, are now available for download on the recent publications page.
